Shrub/small tree typically growing to 3-5 m. Produces deep red fruit around the size of an apricot that can be eaten raw or cooked. Growth starts off slow then rapidly accelerates. Can tolerate only very light frosts and may be deciduous in cooler areas. Germination is erratic, but treatments may help. See the internet for different methods.
